The Allenspach Lab focuses on translational work to understand immune dysregulation disorders - those with overlapping immunodeficiency and autoimmune features.

We are interested in the design of probabilistic machine learning methods and statistical models that incorporate known biochemical principles to facilitate decision-making from limited data and to allow for asking smarter questions. We have a major focus on quantitative analysis of regulatory variation inthe human genome from large scale functional genomics data and its application to rare diseases and precision medicine.

The Jackson Lab studies the immune mechanisms underlying the development of systemic autoimmune diseases, focusing in particular on the role of B cells in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The lab uses various chimeric and genetic knock-in murine strains to model the biology of human autoimmune diseases.

The James Lab is interested in uncovering biochemical mechanisms that contribute to drug resistance and to immunological disease. To do so, we investigate many features of protein behavior, including their impact on differentiation, their interactions with other molecules and whether mutation regulates these processes.

The Piliponsky Lab studies inflammatory responses involving mast cells and myeloid cells. Our goal is to understand how the body controls the immune system’s response to bacterial infections – and how this process becomes dysregulated.

The Torbett Lab studies HIV entry, evolution, and assembly at the genomic, biochemical and structural levels, as well as human hematopoietic stem cell resistance of HIV lentiviral vector entry.
