  • Biography

From an early age, I hoped to pursue a career focused on understanding complex systems and helping to make positive change. As an undergraduate at Yale University, I studied biology and international studies. I interned in the foreign service (where I first observed the challenges of citizens dealing with mental illness in an international setting), and decided to pursue a career in medicine to have a direct impact on patients and families. Psychiatry appeals to me because it is a rapidly developing field where much progress is being made to relieve suffering. Yet it also incorporates age-old good sense around fostering well-being and health through interpersonal interactions. I love working with children because making a difference in the life of a child and his or her family can have effects that last a lifetime (or more).
