We treat more babies, children, teens and young adults with leukemia and lymphoma than any other hospital in our region. Some are just starting their first treatment. Others have refractory, relapsed or recurrent disease. Our entire focus is on providing exceptional and compassionate care, novel therapies, and life-saving treatments to achieve the best outcomes, grounded by our focus on family-centered care and health equity.
We treat children, teens and young adults with the most complex cancers. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks our Cancer and Blood Disorders Center among the best in the United States. Seattle Children’s also ranks as the top children’s hospital in the Northwest and among the nation’s best.
Seattle Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center provides seamless, coordinated care specific to your child’s unique needs by bringing together a team of top experts in all disciplines.
When 6-month-old Harper grew ill, the initial local doctor’s visits in Yakima, Washington, provided no answers. When things worsened, and she began struggling to breathe, her parents took her to their local emergency department where a blood test revealed the devastating cause: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia. But Harper's journey had only just begun...
If your child’s leukemia is harder to treat and more likely to come back after treatment, our team of high-risk leukemia experts in diagnosis, care and research will relentlessly search for the best possible treatment options for your child. From the first visit through follow-up, your child will receive seamless care. This close collaboration by experts in many specialties – including bone marrow transplant and immunotherapy clinical trials – sets us apart from other academic medical centers.
Seattle Children’s provides the most advanced treatments for leukemia and lymphoma in our region. These include immunotherapy, targeted therapies, innovative combinations of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery and stem cell transplants.
In addition to standard diagnostics, our team uses state-of-the-art tests like molecular profiling and next-generation sequencing for children with leukemia. These tests help us find what is unique about your child’s cancer and identify the best treatment options for them.
We strive to improve cure rates and avoid the harsh effects from treatments like chemotherapy or radiation therapy. When possible, we use therapies that target your child’s specific cancer. This approach is called precision (or personalized) medicine.
Learning your child has cancer can be scary. Your family has a full team behind you. During visits, we take time to explain your child’s condition. We help you fully understand treatment options and make the choices that are right for your family.
Our Child Life Specialists and social workers help your family through the challenges of cancer. We connect you to community resources and support groups.
We have worked with many families from around the country and the world. Whether you live nearby or far away, we can help with financial counseling, schooling, housing, transportation, interpreter services and spiritual care.
Our team of experts is comprised of nationally-renowned oncologists and advanced practice providers.
