  • Biography

    I graduated from medical school at Jefferson Medical College, where I also obtained a PhD in Biochemistry at Thomas Jefferson University. I then completed my pediatric residency training at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.

    My training then took me to the west coast where I started my pediatric hematology oncology fellowship at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and Seattle Children’s Hospital (then known as Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center).

    During my fellowship, I worked with Dr. Kenneth Kaushansky at the University of Washington studying megakaryocyte and platelet development. I continued this work in Dr. Kaushansky’s laboratory at University of California San Diego, where I was on the pediatric faculty for approximately 13 years.

    In 2015, I returned to Seattle Children’s Hospital where I assumed directorship of the bone marrow failure program. I directed the pediatric hematology oncology fellowship program for 3 years until 2021, at which time I became director of clinical hematology.
