Start Your Career With the Nurse Residency Program
At Seattle Children’s, our goal is to provide expert care for our patients and a healthy and safe work environment for our staff. For new graduate nurses, we create opportunities for continual growth as they begin their nursing career.
The Nurse Residency Program is one of those opportunities: a one-year program that prepares each new graduate for their role as a pediatric nurse.

Staff RNs are represented by a collective bargaining agreement between Seattle Children’s and the Washington State Nurses Association and are offered a comprehensive set of benefits.
Research to Improve Nursing and Care
The Center for Pediatric Nursing Research advances clinical practice–focused research among Seattle Children’s nurses at all career levels.
The center also promotes research collaboration as part of multidisciplinary teams, with universities and in other pediatric healthcare settings.

Yes. We have limited opportunities for nursing students in patient-care roles, such as nursing technician, certified nursing assistant and unit coordinator.

For New Nursing Graduates
We welcome new nursing graduates – and we'll support you as you transition from student to nurse. New graduate RNs will begin their Seattle Children’s careers in the Nurse Residency Program. Learn more about the program.
For Experienced Nurses
We create individualized orientations based on your individual experience, and will ensure you have a smooth transition into pediatric practice.
We recommend a refresher course for RNs who have not worked for approximately two years or more in an acute care setting.
General Information for Nursing Applicants
Interested RNs should apply online. New staff nurse positions are posted on our website every Wednesday. Other changes to job postings may occur at any time. Job postings for new graduate nurses will specify in the title that nurse residents or new graduate RNs are welcome to apply for the position.
Wages for staff RN positions are determined by the bargaining agreement, and are based on full-time equivalent RN experience. Learn more about benefits.
